Regional Manager, Head Start Program (Waldoboro or Newcastle)
Position Summary: The Regional Manager is responsible for the supervision of center staff, coordination of center operations, and the implementation of all Agency, state, and federal policies, procedures, and practices. The person in this position will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of multiple child development facilities in several locations and assuring successful communication between families, staff, administration, and the communities served. The Regional Manager provides and implements procedures for effective, high-quality, family -centered child development programs. This position may be based in either the Waldoboro or Newcastle center, but regular travel will be required between the centers supervised and the central office in Bath.
Qualifications: Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years paid experience in early care and education is required, as well as at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Cross training in human and family services is desirable. The ability to communicate effectively, to implement program goals and objectives, to establish and maintain positive working relationships, and to organize and prioritize tasks are essential qualities for success. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, insurance and reliable transportation; and must successfully complete State Bureau of Investigation and DHHS Child Protective record checks prior to starting employment.
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week and is eligible for MMCA benefits (see below). Annual salary is $35,630 to $64,395, dependent upon experience.
Early Head Start Home Visitor (Waldoboro)
Position Summary: This position will provide home-based early learning and child development services to pregnant women, children birth to age three, and their parents in northern Lincoln County. This person will make weekly home visits with assigned families to deliver developmentally appropriate learning activities, and education about child health, nutrition, and child development. The EHS Home Visitor will also assist families with identifying and accessing appropriate community resources and supports. Other responsibilities include working with other team members to plan family socialization experiences and create family development plans that support parents in achieving goals and successfully raising their children.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or other related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of working with with families with infants and young children, as well as the ability to assess families in a holistic manner that incorporates education, social services, health, nutrition and self-sufficiency issues are essential. The position requires flexibility, good organizational skills, knowledge of social service organizations, and experience with or knowledge of low-income family situations and stressors. Home visiting experience is desirable.
The work involves travel to families’ homes and other locations, so candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, insurance and reliable transportation. Candidates must also successfully complete State Bureau of Investigation and DHHS Child Protective Services record checks prior to starting employment.
The position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week and is eligible for MMCA benefits (see below). Pay range is $12.83 to $20.07 per hour.
Health Assistant (Bath)
Position Summary: If you like working with kids and families and have an interest in child and family health, Midcoast Maine Community Action is looking for an assistant to the Head Start Health & Nutrition Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting with initial sensory screening of Head Start/Early Head Start enrollees, communicating health requirements to families, collecting and maintaining participant health records, and assisting to coordinator in implementing the health component of the the Head Start program standards. The position is based in Bath, ME, with some travel throughout the MMCA service area to agency Head Start/Early Head Start centers.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an associate degree in Health/Medical Assistant or a closely related field, or comparable experience and an interest in child health including but not limited to: prevention, early intervention, and health maintenance practices. Other necessary skills include: (1) data entry, word processing, database applications, and reporting; (2) ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with colleagues and community professional groups; (3) ability to organize and prioritize tasks; (4) knowledge of and ability to screen hearing and vision; (5) commitment to maintaining client and agency confidentiality; and (6) willingness to acquire new skills. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, insurance and reliable transportation; and must successfully complete State Bureau of Investigation and DHHS Child Protective Services record checks prior to starting employment.

Teacher Assistant, Head Start Program
There are two positions, one in Bath and one in Topsham.
Position Summary: The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting classroom teachers in providing a safe, nurturing environment that maximizes participation and health and safety of all children in Head Start classrooms. This includes participating in supervision of children, providing support to children, and using appropriate behavior when interacting with children and families. The Teacher Assistant is also responsible for assisting in the daily health and safety routines of the classroom, supporting integration of special needs activities with other classroom activities, and preparing the center for programming. All teaching staff are supervised by a Regional Manager.
Qualifications: An associate degree in early childhood education or a related field is strongly preferred. Consideration may also be given to candidates who possess a high school diploma and an equivalent combination of directly relevant experience and a Child Development Associates certificate or other comparable state-awarded credential. Interest and experience working with young children is essential. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, insurance and reliable transportation; and must successfully complete State Bureau of Investigation and DHHS Child Protective Services record checks prior to starting employment.
This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, and is eligible for MMCA benefits (see below). Pay range is $12.00 to $14.17 per hour.
We are looking for an energetic and well-organized individual to assist us as needed to prepare high-quality meals for children and staff. The right person for this position should have previous food service experience, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have good communication and math skills. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift approximately 25 pounds. This is a temporary, on-call position offering flexibility of hours. Assignments may be at any of our centers located in Bath, Brunswick, Topsham, Newcastle and Waldoboro. Open until position filled.
