Great news! We are pleased to announce that MMCA is taking over the Diaper Project previously facilitated by our partner, the United Way of Mid Coast Maine. We are incredibly grateful to them for trusting us with such an important community resource and appreciate their support during this transition.

Our mission to build better lives for stronger communities and our commitment to supporting parents of young children who are facing economic hardship achieve social and economic mobility go hand in hand. Recent reports have found that Maine families spend between $80-100 per child, per month on diapers. MMCA believes that providing diapers and diapering supplies makes a substantial difference in a family’s spending power on other essential needs, ensure parents/guardians can stay at work, and alleviate both physical and psychological health stressors for the family.

Access to an adequate supply of diapers is essential for a baby’s health and well-being. Without enough disposable diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy, a child’s short-term health and long-term development is impacted, as well as added stress for parents/caregivers.

To kick-off the transition, we will be hosting a Diaper Drive on November 25 from 10 AM to 2 PM at 34 Wing Farm Parkway in Bath. The community is asked to drop off diapers, including open packages and wipes, to help “Pack the Pack-and-Play.” To read more about the partnership, visit www.uwmcm.org/news.
