Mission of Midcoast Maine Community Action

Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA) empowers people to build better lives for stronger communities. The agency connects the community with resources that promote health and quality of life, education and economic independence. MMCA supports regional activities which encourage economic sustainability and social equity within the midcoast area.

The Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment, a collaborative effort between Central Maine Healthcare, Northern Light Health, MaineGeneral Health, MaineHealth, and Maine Community Action Partnership describes the fundamental challenges that Mainers face regarding physical and mental health, but also financial security, housing, transportation, and other health-outcome indicators. Those reports can be found here. The Community Needs Assessments establish profiles of communities, noting both needs as well as the resources available to help. These reports serve as guiding documents for MMCA’s responsive programming.
