What is LiHEAP?

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a program that provides a fixed amount of funding to Maine each year from the federal government.

We are accepting applications by phone through the last working day in May (2026) and online applications through May 31^st 2026.

We will make every effort to provide assistance to eligible applicants who submit a completed application by the deadline, but cannot guarantee that assistance will be available.

To schedule an appointment with an intake staff member, please call 207-442-7963 and use option 1. We also highly encourage you to check out the online application at Maine Housing.

• To start an online application go to the LIHEAP tab and enter your ZIP code.
• From there you will be prompted to start an online application.
• This is a fully online application where you will be given the opportunity to upload your supporting documents.
