Director of Fiscal Services 

Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA), a private non-profit social service agency, is seeking applicants for the Director of Fiscal Services position. MMCA provides housing counseling, Head Start / Early Head Start, and family case management services to individuals and families in midcoast Maine.  This senior level position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for planning, developing, maintaining and directing all fiscal policies, procedures, and activities required to assure viability of the agency which has a budget exceeding $7 million.

Qualified applicants will possess at least five years of successful accounting and financial management professional experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role. A Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required.  An advanced degree in a relevant area is preferred.  The successful applicant must have demonstrated ability in and understanding of all aspects of financial management, accounting practices and principles, and fund accounting, knowledge of federal and state governmental contracting practices, excellent leadership, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.  Excellent analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills are essential.  A working knowledge of financial management information systems is required.

Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA), a large mid-coast human services agency, is seeking qualified applicants to fill anticipated openings in our Head Start (HS) program.  Our HS program provides a birth to five continuum of services encompassing education, family engagement, health, nutrition and disabilities content areas of the program.

Cook – Bath

We are looking for an energetic and well-organized individual to prepare high-quality meals for up to 60 children and staff. The right person for this position will have an interest in working in a fast-paced environment, previous food service experience, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have good communication and math skills. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift approximately 50 pounds. This is a full-time, full-year position, 37.5 hours per week.

RN Consultant 

Midcoast Maine Community Action Head Start/Early Head Start (MMCA/HS/EHS) is seeking a per diem registered nurse with pediatric experience to serve as the Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC). The individual will have extensive understanding of child health, child development, and health and safety in child care and school settings. CCHC and the HS/EHS staff work together to promote healthy and safe environments for young children. The CCHC will have expert information, resources and referrals to offer. Through onsite and telephone consultation, the CCHC will work with MMCA/EHS/HS to help create an environment that best supports the healthy growth and development of young children.

Head Start Teachers

The anticipated positions are 35-40 hours per week, some full year and some school year.

We use Opening the World of Learning (OWL) curriculum in our 3-5 year old classrooms, and Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) Assessment System.  Orientation and training are provided in curriculum and all other aspects of pre-kindergarten programming.

Responsibilities: All teaching staff is directly supervised by a HS Center Manager.  Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing the early childhood curriculum in classrooms, conducting child assessments, meeting with families, encouraging parent engagement in their children’s education, and working with the center team to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events.

Qualifications: Applicants with 081 certification will be given preference in public school collaboration classrooms.  An Associate or Bachelor degree in early childhood education or a closely related field is required.  Infant Toddler Child Development Associates or Pre-K Child Development Associates may be considered.

Early Head Start Teachers

Early Head Start (EHS) Infant Toddler teaching positions are year-round and 40 hours per week. The program uses Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers, and Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) Assessment System.  Orientation and training are provided in curriculum and all other aspects of infant and toddler programming.  The program operates 48 weeks per year.

Responsibilities: All teaching staff is directly supervised by a HS Center Manager.  Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing the early childhood curriculum in classrooms, conducting child assessments, meeting with families, encouraging parent engagement in their children’s education, and working with the center team to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events.

Qualifications: An Associate or Bachelor degree in early childhood education or a closely related field is required.  Infant Toddler Child Development Associates or Pre-K Child Development Associates may be considered.

Pay ranges: Pay range is dependent on qualifications and experience.

CDA – 10.00 – 11.60

Associates – 10.93 – 13.52

Bachelors – 12.56 – 16.07

081 certification – 16.77 – 18.27
